Moria Mission Schools
Heavenpartner has started three primary schools and three churches in Pakistan with the aim of helping children out of a vicious cycle of poverty. Many of our students come from unsafe and physically demanding lives as child slaves in brick factories, and we want to help them by giving them a sponsored place in our schools where they can get an education, and into the churches to hear the gospel of Jesus.
Our schools
Location
Campus 1 is located in Tarasawala in Punjab and has a capacity of 53 students, Campus 2 is located in Issanagari in the city of Faisalabad and has a capacity of 65 students, and Campus 3 is located in Kukrawala in Faisalabad and has a capacity of 50 students. Each student needs a sponsor to stay at the school and for a monthly amount of NOK 300,- they receive schooling, equipment and books they need, and a hot meal every school day. We now have many sponsors who are involved and support this work so that these children can go to school instead of working as child slaves, and we are very grateful for that.

The process of selecting students
These are the children of people who work in large brick factories. The children are most often involved in this work. Often they are involved from the age of five, and with working days of up to 14 hours. They have to produce 1,000 bricks every day, and are only paid 37 Norwegian kroner per day to do this. Many of them are Christian people who are very poor. Our contact persons go to the factories and tell them that a school is going to start in the area, and that there is a possibility of sending children there. The contacts also talk to the owners of the factories. It is not always so easy to get permission from them, but in the places where we have been, the owners have thought it is okay to do something for the children. The owners are most often Muslims. Our team hangs up large banners/posters in various areas with information that the Moria Mission School will soon be founded, and that parents can send their children to school. The parents then bring the child or a picture of him/her and say their age and that they have never gone to school before. Then the team will decide. Most people will come in.

We want to help as many people as possible.
So it is very easy to get people into the school, and even though we initially said the limit was 50 students in one school, more and more have come. We want as many people as possible to go to school. Usually there is a culture in the areas where “everyone knows everyone”. Both our contact persons and teachers are from the same area, and we therefore know which children belong to which parents, and so on. The whole process of selecting students can take from three to five months. Our team works on getting permission, they talk to parents, register the child with their name and age, and so on.
Do you want to be a sponsor?
We want to help as many people as possible and increase our work in Pakistan, but this requires more sponsors. If you feel that this is a work you want to support, you can join us by paying NOK 300,- for schooling for a child per month. We want you to register as a sponsor so that you can receive information about who you are paying for schooling for, a picture of the student and updates on how the work is developing in the future.
