For those of you who have heard about Jesus:

There may come a time when people cry out: What must I DO to be saved! Would you have the answer to that right away? Then it is important that some Bible verses are at the forefront of your mind:

Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household, Acts 16:31.

But how to gain faith?

Then faith comes from hearing and the message is heard through the word of Christ (Romans 10:17).

Faith is based on hearing the WORD of GOD, and is point 1 on the path to salvation. (Here it is hearing, not doing that matters.)

Rom. 10:9 says very clearly that we must also do something. God has done great things in terms of salvation. Jesus said on the cross: It is finished! From God's side everything is in order in terms of our salvation, but you must accept it.

To all who received him, he gave the right to become children of God, says John 1:12.

But how do we receive Jesus then? Romans 10:9 clearly explains what we should DO:

For if you confess with your MOUTH that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. With the heart we believe and are justified, and with the mouth we confess and are saved.

BELIEVE and CONFESS; that is, salvation truly becomes yours when you believe, open your mouth, breathe out and make a sound. What we must DO is hear the good news and confess that Jesus is Lord. For some it may be a huge challenge, but it is the solution for you. JESUS ACCEPTS YOU and he does:

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

The normal thing is that the soldier gives his life for the king, I have a King who gave his life for me! Romans 10:13 also says that:

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

The thief on the cross next to Jesus did not do a single good deed, but still he does the only right thing. He calls on the name of the Lord Jesus. (Luke 23:42) He is saved by a look at the bleeding sacrificial lamb of God, after realizing that he was a lost sinner. Lucky that he had heard about Jesus and got to see him on Calvary.
